To become a sister of Sigma Alpha Iota, each prospective MIT must meet the following requirements for the Epsilon Theta chapter:

1.  Must attain a standing GPA of 2.5 or better

2.  Must have at least one accredited music course before pledging

3.  Have a sincere and loyal interest in music and the fraternity

All of these requirements are explained in further detail at Open House before each official Rush Week.

According to National Headquarters, hazing is defined as "any action or situation that recklessly or intentionally endangers mental or physical health or any action taken or situation created which produces mental or physical discomfort, embarrassment, harrassment or ridicule".

Under no circumstance is hazing permitted or practiced.  As a chapter, we believe that the pledge process is one of education and nurturing.  We do not feel as though degrading and humiliating practices are in any way beneficial to becoming a sister of Sigma Alpha Iota International Women's Music Fraternity.
